About

Tāmati Rangi is a fictional Wellington musician created for QA testing, and one of the most versatile profiles in this batch. He composes and arranges for ensembles and media, performs on piano and guitar across contemporary, jazz, and folk styles, accompanies singers and instrumentalists for auditions and recitals, and teaches piano, guitar, and songwriting to students from beginner to advanced. His work often weaves in the sounds and stories of Aotearoa, and he moves fluidly between te reo Māori and English. Whether scoring a short film, arranging a waiata for a community choir, backing a soloist at an audition, playing a restaurant set, or guiding a first-time student, he brings the same craft, warmth, and reliability. He offers his services in person, online, and on the road for events across the region.

Travel

Performs and teaches across the Wellington region in person, with local travel included. Available for events and workshops elsewhere in New Zealand; travel and accommodation quoted. Online lessons, remote accompaniment, and composition delivered anywhere.

Equipment

Provides own piano-style keyboard, guitar, and small PA for performances at venues without instruments. Studio and composition work uses an in-house production setup; teaching requires only the student's instrument. Larger events request a house PA.

Accessibility

Performance and teaching spaces at floor level preferred for access. Online options available for students and clients who cannot travel. Materials provided in large-print and digital formats; lesson pacing adapted for neurodivergent learners; te reo or English used as the student prefers.

Working policies

Performance bookings require a deposit, refundable up to 14 days before the event. Lessons are paid in blocks of four with 24 hours notice to reschedule. Composition and arrangement projects begin with a brief and deposit, with two revision rounds included. Accompaniment repertoire should be shared 72 hours ahead. Outdoor performances need weather cover for instruments.
